Scope of cooperation
A partnership enquiry should concern a defined technical, research or learning purpose within the Institute's remit. Identify the problem and intended users before describing a preferred institutional arrangement.
Responsibilities of the parties
Describe what each party would contribute and who would undertake, review and issue the work. Cooperation does not transfer a party's accreditation, statutory authorisation or institutional representative status.
Background and resources
Provide the proposing organisation, relevant experience, resources and the basis of any funding. Identify dependencies, timing and information that would require confidential handling. Do not submit a complete proprietary file as an initial enquiry.
Consideration of proposals
The proposal is considered for technical relevance, capability, impartiality and practical delivery. Ownership, publication and public communication arrangements are part of that consideration. An introductory discussion is not approval of a partnership.
Submit an enquiry
The form asks for the organisation, contact, purpose, proposed scope and contribution. References to existing work can help explain the context. State whether the contact is authorised to act for the proposing organisation.
Information and public statements
Personal information is addressed in the privacy notice. Technical confidentiality may require a separate agreement. Neither party should announce a relationship or use the other's marks merely because an enquiry has been made.
Next steps
Keep the enquiry reference for correspondence. If a proposal proceeds, the agreed scope and responsibilities are documented before work or public claims begin.
