Sector context matters
The requirements relevant to a product or service depend on its intended use, technical characteristics and market context. Sector information connects those questions with appropriate quality methods, evidence and technical resources.
Sector routes
Consumer products · Electrical and electronic products · Industrial equipment · Construction products and materials · Materials and chemicals · Supply chains and technical services
Define the question
State what needs to be decided: whether a specification is adequate, whether a report covers the product, whether a supplier change affects evidence or whether a claim is supported. The sector alone does not determine the method.
Relevant work
Work areas describe methods and outputs. Sector pages describe applications and evidence issues. Read both when considering a requirement; a broad sector heading is not an offer of every testing, inspection or certification activity within it.
Questions across sectors
Technical documentation, supplier controls, traceability and the use of external reports occur across sectors. Their treatment still depends on the object, reference and intended decision. An approach suitable for one product may need adaptation for another.
Publications and learning
Choose resources by subject and intended audience as well as sector. Check the scope and edition of a publication, or the outcomes and prerequisites of a course.
Ask about your application
Provide the product or service, intended use, market or contractual context and the type of result required. Include relevant references and available evidence.
