Who membership is for
Membership is a route for organisations and professionals whose work relates to the Institute's remit. The applicable category defines eligibility, rights, services and the period of membership. Applicants should select a category that reflects their actual status.
Membership categories
Category information distinguishes organisational participation from membership held by an individual. Any category for research or education identifies its own eligibility. An organisation's membership does not automatically make every employee an individual member.
Member services
The category schedule identifies the resources, communications and participation opportunities included. Access conditions may differ for public publications, member material, courses and events. A service not included in the schedule should not be assumed from the word membership.
Participation and voting
Technical contribution and any governance voting rights follow the applicable rules. Membership does not by itself appoint a person to a technical group or confer authority to speak for the Institute. Delegated representatives act within the authority recorded for them.
Fees and period
The fee information identifies the category, currency, charging period and any applicable tax treatment. Renewal and changes in category follow the membership rules. Read the fee schedule before submitting an application.
Application
The application provides information needed to assess eligibility and administer membership. Additional information may be requested where necessary. Receipt of the form or a payment is separate from an approval decision.
Rules and member information
The rules govern admission, continuing obligations, renewal and termination. A public member record identifies the status authorised for disclosure. It is not a product or management-system certification record.
Before you apply
Check category eligibility, the services included and the applicable obligations. If the right category is unclear, describe the applicant and intended participation before completing an application.
