Research context

ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2 concerns wideband data-transmission equipment operating in the 2.4 GHz band and addresses spectrum access. The official publication is dated July 2019. It contains equipment-dependent requirements and associated methods; the implemented radio characteristics matter to their selection. Official ETSI publication

Establish the equipment description

Before using a result, reconcile the report's radio implementation with the supplied device. Record the technology, enabled modes, channel settings, antenna system, software and relevant power-control settings. A chipset name alone cannot describe the finished implementation.

The standard's structure differentiates frequency-hopping and other wideband equipment, together with characteristics such as adaptive operation. Its technical evidence extends beyond a single transmitter-power measurement. These distinctions are reasons to prepare a configuration-specific applicability table rather than a universal abbreviated test list.

Make test modes traceable

The evidence package should explain how the laboratory configuration represents the product. Keep the test firmware, commands, settings and their relationship to the released software. Where a test mode forces continuous or otherwise controlled behaviour, document the purpose and the connection to the characteristic being measured.

A technically useful review asks whether every enabled mode is represented by the evidence or by an explained coverage argument. It should also identify settings that cannot be enabled in the supplied equipment. An assumption that an untested mode is unavailable requires configuration control that supports it.

Retain the antenna and integration context

Question Reason it matters to evidence use
Which antenna was evaluated? The report needs to remain connected to an identifiable radiating arrangement
Which enclosure and placement were used? Host integration can differ from a module-level specimen
Which software settings controlled operation? The same hardware can support different enabled behaviour
Which simultaneous modes were considered? Multi-radio operation can create configurations absent from a single-module result
Which variants are included? A family claim needs a record of the differences and supporting reasoning

These are evidence-review questions. Exact test arrangements and acceptance criteria must be taken from the applicable standard.

Keep the conclusion within spectrum access

A report under this standard should be read for its stated spectrum scope. Other RED questions, including health and safety, EMC and applicable additional requirements, need their own coverage argument. The 2026 Commission RED guide discusses use of previous component assessments while keeping responsibility with the manufacturer of the complete equipment. RED guide, July 2026

Manage changes against the evaluated baseline

For a new antenna, radio mode or power-control release, identify the earlier conclusions that depend on the changed characteristic. Record the review and any additional evidence. This makes the continued use of a report an explicit engineering decision.

The same approach applies to a new host. A module report can be carried forward where its relevance is demonstrated; the final-product evidence needs to address integration differences.
