Radio Equipment (RED)

Official reference source

Read the linked decisions and amendments to identify the exact cited edition, the date the citation takes effect, any restriction and any cessation date. Commission summary lists provide a convenient index; legal effects follow from the relevant acts.

Application and evidence guide

Radio assessment connects safety, EMC, spectrum and applicable additional functions with the complete hardware-and-software configuration. A report for one radio component should be read within that integration context.

Identify the exact edition and essential requirements addressed by each standard. Record any restriction and the conformity-assessment route appropriate to the actual coverage.

Questions for the product review

  • Which technologies, bands, antennas and modes can be enabled?
  • Which software settings affect the assessed behaviour?
  • What changes between component evidence and final equipment?
  • Which additional legal functions apply to this equipment category?

Review a legal citation

  1. Identify the governing legislation and its application to the defined product.
  2. Check the full standard reference, edition and amendment set in the Official Journal act.
  3. Read any limitations, conditions and dates attached to that citation.
  4. Keep the publication record and citation record separately in the evidence file.
  5. Review later amending and withdrawing acts before relying on the reference.
