Safety, performance and the relationship between general and appliance-specific requirements.

Rated operation, supply conditions and appliance-specific hazards. Identify the submitted model, configuration, rated conditions and intended use, including functions crossing other product schedules. This is schedule BESA-S01, edition 1.0, read with BESA 1.0.

Core comparisons

The following characteristics identify relevant lines of examination. A characteristic supports recognition only when an applicable European standard or European legal requirement supplies a comparable requirement and the submitted evidence establishes a margin under the programme method. They are not additional European limits.

  • Energy demand.
  • Temperature rise.
  • Endurance under prescribed use.

Include the general and particular appliance requirements. A favourable energy result cannot offset an electrical, thermal or mechanical failure.

All other applicable mandatory requirements and baseline checks must be satisfied. At least one selected core comparison must qualify; no scoring or averaging offsets a failure.

Fix the applicable references

Use the linked product-standard research to identify candidate references, then verify the applicable edition, amendments, clause and requirement against the controlled source. The index is a discovery aid and contains earlier editions; a search match alone does not establish applicability or a valid comparison.

Standard references and evidence questions · Official European sources

Record the legal baseline separately from a voluntary standard and identify any relevant Official Journal citation, restriction or transition. IESQ fixes the accepted scope and core characteristics before detailed technical examination.

Product-specific evidence

Submit the technical specification and model matrix, complete reports and amendments, relevant laboratory scopes, the proposed comparison table and the legal documents required for the intended use. For each core claim, identify the report page, requirement, measured result, units, conditions and uncertainty or classification rule. Include adverse findings and retests.

  • product configuration
  • component schedule
  • normal and abnormal operating conditions
  • instructions and production controls

An additional function may require another schedule and further evidence. Keep the tested specimen connected to the released production specification; declarations and photographs supplement but do not replace the test evidence.

Decision and public scope

The reviewer records whether the required baseline is satisfied and which selected core comparisons, if any, establish a supported margin. A separate authorised person makes the decision. The public record names the particular characteristics, models, configurations, standard editions, validity and limits.

Recognition under this schedule is not approval of every characteristic or of an entire product family. A change affecting rated operation, supply conditions and appliance-specific hazards must be reported for a scope decision.
