Four stages
- 1
Define
Confirm authority, model, configuration and applicable requirements.
- 2
Verify
Examine complete reports, competence, authenticity and claimed margins.
- 3
Decide
A separate authorised person records the scope and reasoned outcome.
- 4
Register
Issue the certificate and scoped licence and publish the current record.
Receipt and completeness
Create an application, retain its reference and private access key, and submit the completed file. The immediate receipt records delivery only. IESQ aims to complete the initial scope and completeness review within five working days. The review identifies missing material and the applicable product schedule; it is not a favourable technical decision.
Technical examination and clarification
Once the required file is complete, the target for technical examination and a decision is 20 working days. Complex scope, verification with a report issuer, specialist questions or further evidence may require longer; the case notice explains the reason and next review point. There is no paid priority route.
A clarification request lists the questions and normally allows 30 calendar days to respond. Preserve the originals, upload the revised material and explain how it relates to the previous version. The processing target pauses while required evidence is outstanding. An extension may be agreed before the deadline. A case may be closed after the deadline and a written reminder if the required response is not supplied.
Independent decision
The technical reviewer records the baseline findings and each claimed margin. A different authorised person considers the complete record and makes the decision. Each person declares relevant interests and steps aside where an unresolved conflict exists. The decision function can request clarification or return the file for further review.
A favourable decision requires complete baseline findings and at least one supported core comparison. The written outcome states the accepted scope, evidence and reasons. A negative decision explains the unmet condition and how to request a free appeal.
Registration and one-year validity
Following a favourable decision and approval of the public information, IESQ issues the electronic certificate and mark licence and publishes the Award record. The record is valid from the issue date until the corresponding date in the following year, with the expiry date exclusive; a 29 February issue reaches its first anniversary on 28 February in a non-leap year. The precise dates appear on the record.
Holders may submit renewal from 60 calendar days before expiry. Renewal is free and considers the continuing product specification, current baseline, report applicability and any required update. It does not automatically require repeating every test and does not extend validity until a renewal decision has been issued.
Appeals and other concerns
An applicant or holder may appeal a decision within 30 calendar days of receiving it. Identify the decision, grounds and supporting material. A person not involved in the challenged technical review or decision handles the appeal. IESQ aims to acknowledge it within five working days and provide an outcome within 30 working days of a complete appeal file, or explain an extension. Appeals are free.
Service complaints, corrections to public information and reports of mark misuse use their corresponding routes. An appeal does not itself restore an expired, suspended or withdrawn Award.
